"I am Princess Catkin. King Crispin and Queen Cedar's firstborn and the heir to the throne.
If you want to say anything, you can say it to me." - Lord Arcneck and Catkin

Catkin is the oldest daughter of King Crispin and Queen Cedar, and sister to Prince Oakleaf and Princess Almondflower. After her father's death she becomes Queen of Mistmantle and is supported by her mother, brother, and the Circle.

Catkin is a young female squirrel with flame-red fur, long ear tufts, and a heart-shaped face.

The Heir of MistmantleEdit

The newborn princess

The squirrel princess was born to Queen Cedar and King Crispin. After her naming ceremony, she was looked after by the tower maids, Jig, Fig, Moth, Mother Huggen, Needle, and Linty. While under Linty's care, Catkin was taken to the Tangletwigs by the squirrel, who believed she needed rescuing. Linty took the princess through the mole tunnels and was almost past the mists when she was apprehended by Fingal and Sepia.

Urchin and the Raven WarEdit

During the Raven War, King Crispin chose to send her to a different part of the island. During her stay, she went by the alias "Lapwing" and found a friend in the otter Corr.

When Urchin was ordered to defend Curlingshell Bay from attack, Catkin tagged along. Both were soon lead into a trap by the mole Grith, and Catkin was to be executed by drowning. Luckily, she was rescued before it was too late.

Urchin and the Rage TideEdit

Upon Crispin's death, Catkin was crowned Queen of Mistmantle.

During the ceremony to inform the island of their King's passing, Catkin held the Heartstone as a sign of office.
