Find the King, find the Queen, find the Heir of Mistmantle!
―The chant used in the game

'Find the Heir of Mistmantle' is an old Mistmantle game that resembles hide-and-seek. It’s one of the favourite games of young animals on Mistmantle Island, and they can be often seen playing it.

Rules[]

In this game three animals representing the king, the queen and the heir are sent away to hide while the others cover their faces and repeat the chant ten times before trying to find them. The three hidden animals then attempt to distract their seekers’ attention from each other, which results in a great fun for all the participants.

History[]

Urchin and the Heartstone[]

A group of young animals is playing the game on the seashore when King's Arrow arrives on Mistmantle. Later, when Sepia takes her choir to the singing caves to practice, some of the little squirrels ask if they can play ‘Find the Heir of Mistmantle’.

The Heir of Mistmantle[]

Some of the young animals play ‘Find the Heir of Mistmantle’ before the day of Catkin’s Naming Ceremony. During the game, many players would pull a joke by pointing to the Tower and saying that the heir is in there, causing their friends to laugh.

After Catkin is kidnapped by Linty, the mood on Mistmantle changes, and every time the children attempt to play ‘Find the Heir of Mistmantle’, their parents would stop them, saying that it’s not suitable to play this game when the princess is missing. However, after Catkin is rescued and reunited with her parents, young animals again play ‘Find the Heir of Mistmantle’ on the shore. Crispin also comments that Urchin has, effectively, completed a true version of the game by his previous heroics, from his role in Crispin's own return to his participation in the search for Catkin.
