―Lord Treeth's words before he attacks Crispin

Treeth was a large male hedgehog sent from Whitewings Island by King Silverbirch along with Scatter, Trail, and Bronze, to kidnap Urchin of the Riding Stars from Mistmantle. He was one of Silverbirch's most loyal servants up until his master's death.

History[]

Urchin and the Heartstone[]

Lord Treeth arrived to Mistmantle on the King's Arrow bearing gifts, and was cordially greeted by King Crispin and Brother Fir. He told Crispin that the mercenaries of Captain Husk that were exiled from Mistmantle had settled on Whitewings Island and were causing problems there. In an attempt to get Urchin to travel to Whitewings, he claimed that since Urchin was a Marked Squirrel, he was destined to save their island. When this failed to trick him, Treeth attempted to woo Urchin by giving him a sword as a "gift" with the intention to force him to help Whitewings if the young squirrel accepted it, but Urchin refused the gift. After these failed, Treeth simply ordered for Urchin's kidnapping.

Lord Treeth fighting Crispin

The night Trail, Bronze, Urchin, and Juniper disappeared, King Crispin and Captain Padra locked Lord Treeth in Lady Aspen's old chamber. While there, he destroyed many of the objects in the room in a fit of rage, earning the wrath of Gleaner.

While imprisoned, Lord Treeth plotted with Gorsen and some of the members of Hedgehog Host, who were placed to guard him. Using Gorsen's beliefs that only hedgehogs were the true kings of Mistmantle, Treeth made a pact with him, and later, during the audience with Crispin, Lord Treeth attacked him with the support of Gorsen and his followers. However, in the following battle Treeth was eventually defeated, mostly due to Gleaner's furious attack on him in revenge for ruining Lady Aspen's room, and jailed.

He is last mentioned when Crispin and Cedar discuss what they should do with him and the soldiers sent to attack Mistmantle by King Silverbirch. It's decided that since Queen Larch had just established herself as a queen, Crispin would keep him under guard until she is ready to deal with him. While it's unknown what happened to him after this, it's likely that he lived the rest of his life in captivity.
